Los Angeles is one of the world’s great cultural crossroads, yet there remains room for a major festival devoted to the extraordinary breadth of African music, arts, and cultures. NACAPA wants to change that.
The African Music and Arts Festival (AMAF-LA) is envisioned as an annual gathering bringing Africa’s many regions, traditions, and contemporary creative voices together in Los Angeles.
What to expect: live music and dance, traditional and contemporary performance, visual arts, cultural demonstrations, food, artists and makers, community activities, and opportunities to experience the diversity of African cultures in one place.
More than a festival, AMAF-LA is intended to become a Los Angeles cultural institution: a place for Africans, the African diaspora, and the wider community to gather, encounter, celebrate, and experience Africa through its artists.
